The lymphatic system is a one-way drainage network that runs parallel to the circulatory system. Its job is to collect excess fluid, metabolic waste products and immune cells from the body’s tissues and return them to the bloodstream for processing and elimination. Unlike the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system has no pump — it relies entirely on muscle contractions and body movement to drive flow.
