Magnetotherapy for physiotherapy & rehabilitation.
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy for arthrosis, fractures, bone oedema and inflammation. One of the most widely used instrumental therapies for pain and osteoarticular problems.

Pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF).

Pulsed electromagnetic fields are low-frequency waves that help damaged or weakened bone and joint structures rebuild their microstructure.
Magnetotherapy is one of the most widely used instrumental therapies for pain and osteoarticular problems. Globus produces certified medical devices in this field, supported by ongoing clinical research.
What PEMF treats.
Arthrosis
The electromagnetic signal penetrates joint structures, has an anti-inflammatory effect and reactivates bone and cartilage metabolism. Joint stiffness often eases after a few sessions.
Fractures
PEMF supports fracture healing and can reduce post-fracture pain. It can be used over casts and braces.
Bone oedema
A frequently prescribed physical therapy for bone oedema, reducing pain and inflammation while stimulating bone tissue regeneration.
Inflammation
Used for acute inflammation after injury or surgery, and for chronic conditions such as tendonitis, carpal tunnel and epicondylitis.
What the research shows.
Pain reduction in patients receiving active PEMF after femoral neck fracture surgery, compared with placebo.
Average improvement after 18 PEMF sessions, sustained at 26% vs 8% one month later.
Share of patients receiving active PEMF who stopped anti-inflammatory medication after arthroscopic knee surgery.
Published clinical trials.
Hip fracture recovery
Betti et al., 1999. PEMF in patients with femoral neck fracture operated within 3 days of trauma. Protocol: 8 hours daily for 90 days at 75Hz and 30 Gauss. Active PEMF was associated with complete bone consolidation, fewer complications and less pain: 94% pain reduction versus 70% with placebo.
Knee & cervical osteoarthritis
Trock et al., 1994. Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Protocol: 18 treatments of 30 minutes, 3 to 5 times per week at 12Hz and 25 Gauss. Knee osteoarthritis improved 32% vs 15% (26% vs 8% at one month); cervical osteoarthritis 32% vs 22% (29% vs 9%).
Post-surgical inflammation
Zorzi et al., 2017. Prospective, randomised, double-blind study after arthroscopic knee surgery, starting 5 days post-surgery. Protocol: 6 hours daily for 90 days at 75Hz and 30 Gauss. Active PEMF reduced inflammation and anti-inflammatory drug intake: 74% stopped medication versus 25% with placebo.
