Pressotherapy at home.

Sequential compression for recovery, circulation and relaxation at home: the same lymphatic drainage principle used in clinics, in a portable device.

What is pressotherapy

Sequential pneumatic compression.

Inflatable boots, armbands or an abdominal band inflate in sequence, from the extremities towards the core. The wave replicates and amplifies the body's own lymphatic and venous return.

Controlled air pressure mechanically stimulates the lymphatic system, pushing lymph and venous blood towards the centre. Inflammatory mediators clear faster, swelling drops and recovery shortens.

How it works

The physiology of lymphatic drainage.

The lymphatic system

The lymphatic system is a one-way drainage network that runs alongside the circulation, collecting excess fluid, metabolic waste and immune cells and returning them to the bloodstream. It has no pump: flow depends on muscle contraction and movement. Hard training floods the muscles with waste products, and full recovery cannot happen until they clear. When the system falls behind, the result is the soreness, heaviness and swelling every athlete knows.

How sequential compression helps

Chambers inflate from foot to thigh in a wave, driving lymph and venous blood towards the core and doing the work of muscle contraction while the body rests. Metabolic waste clears faster, swelling falls, venous return improves and the gap between hard sessions shortens.

Clinical applications

Four core applications.

Sport recovery

Clears metabolic waste after training, for less soreness and heaviness and a faster return to full intensity.

Lymphoedema

Compression is a recognised option for chronic swelling caused by lymphatic damage or dysfunction. The PressCare G300M is a medical device that Globus lists as suitable for lymphoedema.

Post-op oedema

Helps reduce post-surgical swelling and supports circulation in immobile patients. Common in hospital and clinic settings.

Aesthetic contouring

Softens the appearance of cellulite and contours the legs, buttocks and abdomen. A popular addition to a clinic treatment menu.
